Scouting was founded by Robert Baden-Powell in the United Kingdom in 1907 and the first recorded Scout Troop registered in Belize in 1911, making this year its hundredth Anniversary. As a result The Scout Association of Belize held a Centenary Awards Banquet, hosted under the patronage of the Governor-General, Sir Colville Young and the Belize Scout Endowment Foundation on Saturday November twenty sixth at the Princess Hotel and Casino. The event began at seven p.m. with opening remarks Dr. Rene Villanueva who was also the Master of Ceremonies for the occasion. Governor General Sir Colville Young and the Ambassador of China Mr. Avid Wu delighted all with the greetings. The keynote address was given by Reverend Rudolph Anthony from St. Paul’s By the Sea Anglican Church. Other highlights included a tribute to The Late Right Honorable George Cadle Price by Field Executive, Nephtali Palma, Dinner, entertainment and a presentation of numerous awards to deserving individuals and businesses who have contributed to the development of Scouting in Belize.
