I am planning my first trip to Belize for 7 nights in December (Dec.24-Dec.31st). I agree this is the peak holiday season and the hotels are VERY expensive. Does anybody recommend moderate hotels or lodges in Ambergris Caye for 7 nights around 60-80 dollars a night?? Should I take a chance and not reserve a hotel and look for it when I get there?? Please let me know.

Thanks,
Bhailog.

We were down the same time last year and everywhere was pretty busy so I don't suggest you leave it until you get here. We stayed at Coconuts but this was a bit more than you say you are looking to spend. You could try the Holiday Hotel, or Rubies which are both in town on the beach and have good reputations. Or just out of town is the Hideaway which is across the street from the beach but has a pool.

The Holiday week is very crowded for San Pedro. These are Holidays for Belizeans as well, so many mainlanders come to AC for their vacation.

We stay budget at the Conch Shell Hotel. Family owned, friendly, clean and on the beach. Also Lily's might be in your range as well.
Belize it!
