Good morning,
We're traveling to caye caulker in february and have a few questions about traveling with our 15 month old. Is there a grocery store on the island that has whole milk, diapers and baby wipes?
What do you think will be better, bringing our big sturdy stroller or Buying a backpack carrier to haul her around? She walks but obviously not very fast...not that we'll be in a hurry or anything but we don't think we want to carry her everywhere.
Any info is greatly appreciated!

Caye Caulker is very child friendly. Most folks rent bikes while here to get around and you can get them with baby seats attached.Diapers, wipes, milk are all available but will cost more here. We even have a great wading area where the water is only a few inches deep with no waves and protected by a sea wall at the Split. I would think it would be easier on you with just a lightweight stroller as a child can also fall asleep more comfortably in a stroller than a pack. I would suggest you bring some baby approved bug repellent.

Whole milk is USUALLY available....but like most any dairy product it is expensive and not always available. You can usually try another store with success.

The streets are bumpy right now. They fill them, but after the rains the potholes return. A stroller could be a bumpy ride.

Diapers and wipes are readily available in the stores.

We like Chan's store. They have most everything, but if not, ChinaTown is nearby.

You can get long shelf life whole milk too. A jogging stroller or something sturdy would be best. The umbrella stroller may not be sturdy enough, or certainly won't be too decent after the trip.

As cooper said, it would be good to bring the stroller so the babe can nap. Don't forget sun protection. Even in the shade baby skin burns really easily.

Thing with the less expensive stroller which for a short stay and slow strolls on Caye Caulker I think would work. I was just thinking of it being easier to travel with and could be left behind, in the village the roads are good,.I agree a sturdy one is always best but the smaller one is just a temporary item. Getting the larger ones on tropic or Maya air if flying can be a pain.....

This is all very helpful info, thank you all so much for replying!
We are leaning towards bringing the bob sturdy stroller since it has more sun protection and she could nap in it. We think it will be under tropic airs size requirements.
Do all the bike rentals have bikes with baby seats, any specific one we should use?
We are staying at seaside villas and are still waiting to hear if they have a pack n play. If they don't have one is there anywhere we could rent one? Hoping to not have to bring that too...
Thanks again for the info!

I wouldn't worry too much about this. I used to come back with full sized coolers weighing A LOT. Planes can get full so you cannot be so picky about flying on the same plane with anything over size/weight, but Tropic will get it there. Worst case, you can always send it cargo on Tropic, paying a maximum of $5us and it WILL get to you. Have the number for your hotel ready to give to the passenger/cargo attendent at BZE.

I agree with bringing a cheap stroller. I have priced diapers in San Pedro....expensive....You will probably pay 3 times as much on the islands as in the states. You will love it...bring a hat for the baby.
