Hi Yall! My boyfriend and I leave smoggy Houston next Wednesday for a week in AC! It will be our first trip! We will be staying at Banana Beach. I think I've got everything covered...sunscreen, mosquito repellant, bathing suits...that's about it! We plan on doing a couple of half-day fishing trips. Any guide recommendations? Nothing too expensive. Probably going reef and deep sea fishing. Any thing else I should know before we leave? Do yall mainly use U.S. dollars (cash) or traveller's checks? Thanks for your input!

You'll love Banana Beach! We just returned from staying there for one week. The pool area is beautiful the beach is great and don't miss happy hour at the Mata Rocks beach bar next door. We used Bottom Time for snorkeling and fishing. I think it was $135 US for 3 to go out for about four hours. Caught huge Baracuda, they fileted them for us and we cooked them up. Delicious. The office at Banana Beach will cash your travelers checks whenever you need and they do have a safe in your room for valuables. Have a great time!

FYI Deep Sea Fishing is expensive and reef fishing is not cheap. I think 1/2 day fish/snorkel was just under $150US.
We reef fish/snorkel with Mr. Luz Guerrero. He docks his boat at Holiday Hotel. He does a wonderful shore lunch with our fresh catch.
You can reach him through his daughter Corina at [email protected] or call when you get there 2034.
Belize it!

Hi Again...what are no-see-ums? Is there anything (like a cream or spray) that will prevent them from biting? Thanks for your help!

No-see-ums, nasty little buggers. I use liberal doses of Deep Woods Off. I put an extra heavy slick around my ankles and on my feet. The deet deters them but the oil drowns them.

My friend used a citronella product and she looked like she had a bad case of measles. I just had some really annoying bites here and there but wasn't covered anywhere near as much as lots of other people.

A fish and a bird can fall in love, but where will they build their nest?
