Looking for advice about bringing my 10 month old to Belize next month..... We're staying at Las Terrazas and am wondering about transportation to and from the airport. Should we plan on using golf carts all of the time or should we plan on bringing the carseat. What are somethings I should bring that would be hard to find on the island. It will be our first trip down there and I'm a little anxious about the travel logistics and what we'll have access to. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!!! Can't wait to get there!

Well the car seat part is easy - if you are planning on being on the island the whole time, don't bring it.
If you are flying in from International to San Pedro, I think LT will set up your ride from SP to the resort. Even if it is in a vehicle, you won't need a car-seat, as you won't be "in traffic" and probably won't go more than 15 mph.
As for what is hard to get ----- if you have particular food items that are must-haves for the little one perhaps post them here so some moms can tell you if we have them.
Do bring baby-friendly sunblock and insect repellant, and a baby life jacket for the times you will be in boats. A couple of beach-toys will be fun too.

Hi cm923,

We moved here with our 3 & 1 year old, so I have a few pieces of advice that you can consider.

1. Don't bring the car seat (you'll probably not use it). They are big and bulky and not necessary on this island.
2. If your baby likes to play with beach toys, bring a few small ones. My babies have a few, but play with shells and sticks mostly. There are stores in town that sell beach toys very inexpensively also.
3. Sun hat! Definitely a sun hat.

The less stuff you bring the better. I see tourist bring 2 suitcases just for the babies needs and have to laugh. Babies really don't need that much stuff.
If this is your first baby, you will most certainly obscenely overpack smile

Thank you for all of these suggestions... they're great. Would you recommend that we bring our own formula and baby food? What grocery store would you recommend we shop at for baby provisions... I don't plan on bringing enough diapers, wipes for the whole week. And of course I will over-pack that's what first time moms do smile but good to know we wont have to lugged the carseat around!

You may want to check with your pediatrician on baby food. Ten years ago when the grandmothers were paying and traveling with the daughters and grandbabies to Mexico, ALL the mothers were told never to give a baby under the age of 2 prepared baby food from any country outside the US. We happened to be in Mexico for several trips, but the mothers were from different areas of the country and all pediatricians made the same recommendations. This may have changed. My youngest grandson was 2 and not eating prepared baby food so this was never a problem for us. I think that they may also tell you to bring your own formula and buy bottled water. We always keep the kids in the Speedo swim shirts for better sun protection as well. Have a great trip. My grandsons are always miffed when they find out the Granny is in Belize and they are not. "Buy why didn't we get to go mommy. Grandma loves to take us to Belize."

You can find diapers nearly in any store, same with wipes. If you have a specific formula, then I would bring it. My babies always ate homemade food, so I don't have a suggestion...but if it was me, I would probably bring a few jars. If you run out, s smashed banana is always good.

Make sure you bring a life jacket for the Baby from home as Las Terrazas is located a few miles north of town and you may very well find yourselves using boats for transportation to/from town.

Water taxis will probley not have "Baby" Life Jackets on board.

Do yourself a favor and buy one at West Marine (Boat US) or Boaters World and make sure you try it on the Baby to assure it fits correctly.

Stay Safe and enjoy your time in San Pedro.
