There are a number of on-going jaguar research projects in Belize. Blancaneaux Lodge supports two of the research projects.
Dr Marcella Kelly of the Dept of Fisheries & Wildlife at Virginia Tech has been conducting country wide research in Belize on jaguar and other felidae for the past 5 years.
The work is on-going and Marcella is looking for project support in the form of much needed equipment to conduct her research. If you would like to learn more about Marcella’s work or would like to donate please visit her web site at www.mjkelly.info
Dr Erik Terdal of Northeastern State University is also conducting jaguar research in the Elijio Panti National Park with logistical support from Blancaneaux Lodge.
Programme for Belize and Chan Chich Lodge/The Gallon Jug Estate have over the years been bases for numerous jaguar studies. For more information of Programme for Belize go to www.pfbelize.org
