Coming into Placencia via RaggaMuffin sailboat tours on Sun Feb 5th. Looking for relatively cheap accommodations for four adults for two nites. Been trying to do my research but not having much luck. Some places require minimum stays. Welcome any suggestions.

Aside from a tour to Laughing Bird Caye what would people recommend. Two of the group have never been to Belize so want to show them lots.

Also, looking to go up to San Ignacio on the 7th and wondering about the local bus to Belmopan. Any comments or suggestions welcomed.

Gail - PM Graffice. He spends lots of time in Placencia and may be arrving about the same time as you.....or find him on my FB friends list. I think you may have met him briefly on CC last year as well.

Try Cozy's on the beach in Plancencia, Kul Garbutt is the owner and they have a great little restaurant there as well.

You mean Cozy Corner? They have the best sirloin steak. We usually stay at Sea Spray, but Lydias Guest House has two very nice Cabanas, dont stay in the guest house, too communal
The bus ride from Placencia to Belmopan is a long ride. If you guys are young it may be great, but for the more mature traveler not so much. Its best to take the ferry to Independence and take the bus from there. Better yet to fly.
The Hummingbird Hwy, from Dangriga to Belmopan is one of the most beautiful drives. Its a shame the bus drivers turn it into a nightmare of speed on winding narrow roads, the last time I took the bus, school kids were actually crying and screaming. When we got to Belmopan the bus driver and ticket boy confirmed they had beat the last time by 20 minutes...no joke. Yet accidents in busses are fewer than cars. ATM Cave
In San Ignacio the best tour in my opinion is the
-Actun Tunichil Muknal cave in Belize...google it.
Also The Raggamuffin trip is more than excellent, we loved it. Take a book and snacks..and bug repellant for the overnighters. In San Ignacio we stay at the Plaza, $20 a night for a large room, t.v. private bath, very safe place, run by the sweetest elderly couple we call Mom and Pop, she has demensia, we have stayed there about 20 times, Pop remembers us always, but for Mom its always her first time.

Thanks Bear and Cooper for the great information.
Might have to rethink the bus thing.

If there are 4 of you, check into a car rental one way from Placencia and drop off in Belmopan. I think it would be cheaper than airfare for 4, and it is most beautiful drive...
