"It is time to restore and revive investor confidence for our island for the development & economic growth for the benefit of all. This growth will create jobs and improve the quality of tourism services and opportunities for all."
I wish these politicians would concentrate on providing the infrastructure to improve the quality of life for those living here as opposed to programs to bring more people and more development to the island. Having a job is important, but living and working in an environment that is safe, clean, healthy and provides adequate water, sewage and garbage disposal, electricity, roads etc. should be a priority.
I guess I just don't get it. If the infrastucture can't support the number of people already here, what does bringing more people accomplish? Maybe if I understood that, I could be a politician.

I'll simply add a corollary to that byW:
If Ms Arceo, or any of the candidates for that matter, have been enlightend enough to see that "restoration and revival" can be accomplised by improving the infrastructure (for all) then they're hitting a power chord with me.
It seems to me that the investors the candidates need to court are not private investors or developers but the GOB itself. Infrastructure improvment hits a lot of the notes people on the island are truly interested in ---> jobs, more schools and/orcapacity, activities for kids, all of which can be had by improvments (directly or indirectly) in the infrastructure (roads, community docks, drainage, bridge(s), water and sewage systems). Open up and optimize the potential of what's already here. Enhance the use of, and access to, exisitng accomodations (operational, mothballed, or abandoned) withhout courting the misery of halfbaked "new" development schemes. Ringworm development is a classic deadend; on an island it's a deathknell.
This is fine and well but Ms Arceo and others have to hit the right notes with the voters. I'm not sure if infrastructure improvements and what they could mean is on the minds of the general populace. More to the point it's not being pitched in a way that makes sense to them (or the GOB). What say you Miss Arceo? Candidates? Honorable Minister?
