AmbergrisCaye.com Home Forums Belize Life Employment Election Day pay?

Does anyone know or has anyone found out if we are to pay our employees holiday pay for Election Day? None of the posts about it being a holiday specify that. Our employees all vote in San Pedro, so they will be working that day with time off to vote.

I am pretty sure that a national holiday and bank holiday means that we will need to pay the staff regular pay if they don't come to work, and those that do will be paid time and a half for the day. I believe we are required to pay for thei time spent at the polls. I guess we will find out from the labour office soon. Then hopefully someone will post the info here.

Thanks Amanda, that's what I thought, but since they declared it a national and bank holiday it would be nice if they would let us know so that we can pay our employees accordingly. Hopefully someone will post it or send us emails and let us know for sure.
