Looking at going for the first time and are interested in staying at cabana on the beach. Is there a preferred beach area? Also, would prefer a place where the water is accessible (no rocks).

What about c/o? Is it permitted?

Sure you don't want to go to Placencia instead? Lots of cute beach cabanas there.

If c/o means clothing optional - please note that public nudity is illegal here.

Mata Chica & Portofino have lovely beach cabanas.
Tranquility Bay has some nice ones as well.

We don't have rock shores. We do have sea grass. The whole coastline is sandy.

Tranquility Bay is phenomenal!!!! No rocks for sure, great beach. you can snorkel to the reef, and it is so far North (12 miles apx)c/o depends on who is staying there that week. There are some very isolated spots way up there!!
Great place, great people!!!

Ak'Bol also has beach cabanas, didn't think about them initially. Good suggestions here, but yes, please keep your clothes on! grin

Good luck!

Emily, who had no idea what c/o meant blush

Victoria House, Ramon's & Capricorn also have individual beach cabanas.

What about Hotel del Rio? Isn't it still up and running? It has one or two individual cabins, IIRC. For the original poster, this would be more budget style accommodation than Victoria House, Ramon's, Mata Chica, Portofino or Capricorn.

Hotel Del Rio looks like it has been spruced up lately, fresh thatch and new paint will go a long way.
