We just returned from AC yesterday. Chantal and a pretty negative experience with Tuff e nuff tours was the only bad part of a wonderful trip. We had a party of 15 staying at the Playdor. During the first few days we took some nice tours with them. On Sunday the hotel announces that everyone has to evacuate. Every flight was booked so we had to find a boat. Tuff enuff tried to charge us 500. US for just our party one way to Belize City. We found another boat for 375. and Tuff e nuff matched the price. We had over twenty people on the boat including two babies, and all of our luggage. everthing was going smooth until we started speeding through these mangrove patches and the driver crashes us into one of them. Several people were injured and had to be taken to the hospital. I was knocked unconcious from taking the first branch to the back of my head. It was pretty crazy for a while. We asked for the passage money to be returned to everyone and they eventually agreed. But they never came back with it and we had a plane to catch. We were all very fortunate that nobody was seriously injured or killed, especially the babies.

Anyone know a good local lawyer?

That's horrible! I think Iraida Gonzales is the justice of the peace on the island, but that's as much as I know in the legal realm there....

I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with tuff e nuff. We have been to AC several times, and have always gone out with Oliver, Jovanni, and crew. I have always had wonderful, positive and extremely safe trips with them, including a trip into Belize City.
Who was your driver? This just doesn't sound like the people we know and trust.
I hope you all are back to 100%, and hope you return to AC to "finish your holiday" soon.
