My wife and I just spent our honeymoon in San Pedro (at Ramon's), and thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to AC. We liked it so much, we have already planned a return trip in either April or July 2002. I was actually very surprised by how good the food was. I had heard in many places, even on this board, that it was OK, just don't expect too much. I avoided many of the 'Big' restaurants, and chose to dine at smaller, more 'local' restaurants...thanks to Ricky's advice (from Searious adventures).
Jam bel was one of the best on the island. However, the best in my opinion was Vilma's vendor cart on Coconut Drive near the church, and some of the others as well. That's where I will spend more of my time eating next time...and the price just can't be matched. I was rather disappointed with the menu and prices at many of the places, particularly Fido's and Caliente. The food was good, but very pricey. I don't think I ever ate at Ramon's for the same reason. Unfortunately, Capricorn was closed for vacation (which we discovered after biking up there for dinner). Next time.
can't wait...hope the hurricanes are gentle this fall!
