At 5:30 this AM two large agouti scampered around our front yard for a while.
Never saw them on the island before.
Beautiful. Size - big! I'd estimate them at 20 lbs each.

So glad the new Mata Grande National Park will provide protected habitat for these and other critters.

Aren't they the cutest!! We enjoying seeing the resident agouti that scampers through our yard at day break and dawn.

Yes it will be wonderful to have more habitat preserved for these and all the other animals that we share the island with. When will the new Mata Grande National Park be official?

Wow, 20lbs is HUGE for an Agouti. Elbert could eat off of that for a week.

naa, My friend Norman once said 'if I'm gona shoot something there are a lot more people that need it than animals' :-)

They were huge indeed - full grown adorable critters.

Ah indeed indeed, but one still hopes that Norman was also a firm adherent to "kill only what you will eat"...An invite for "pork chops" at Normans was undoubtedly a dicey decision.


As to the agouti, wonderful!
