Valid: May 28 - June 4, 2012

Two systems were responsible for the outbreaks of showers and thunderstorms last week and over the weekend. The first was a persistent low pressure area over and just offshore Belize that eventually drifted NE towards Cuba by late Wednesday. While, in the upper atmosphere, a westward drifting short-wave trough moved over Belize on Sunday and its axis now extends from NW Bahamas south-westward across the eastern Gulf of Mexico and central Yucatan Peninsula and Guatemala. This feature is forecast to continue its westwards displacement as an upper anticyclone migrates westward over northern Central America by Thursday of this week.

A weak tropical wave will make its way westward over the central and western Caribbean this week, reaching the Yucatan and Belize coasts by late Wednesday. Otherwise, the airflow in the NW Caribbean will become drier in a weak SE'ly current as we approach the weekend. Showers may likely be on the increase once again on Sunday afternoon and Monday.

Daily rainfall accumulations will be in the range of 0.25-0.50 of-an-inch over north-western and northern Belize on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, with amounts of 0.50-0.75 of-an-inch in the higher terrain and some parts of the coast. Daily accumulations will decrease on Thursday through most of the weekend over the country as the airflow becomes drier and more stable. We can expect daily totals of 0.10-0.25 of an inch especially in the N and NW regions.

Tropical Cyclone Outlook: The models are not forecasting any tropical cyclone formation over the Caribbean during the next five days.

Tropical Weather Outlook: Tropical Rainstorm Beryl is moving east-northeastward near the southern part of the Georgia-South Carolina border and continues to bring bands of heavy rain across parts of eastern South Carolina. Disorganized showers and thunderstorms over the west-central Caribbean may get drawn north and northeast across Cuba and perhaps affect the Bahamas and South Florida on Thursday night and Friday. Shear should keep this area of active weather from becoming better organized.

Thank you so much for posting the tide information. This should help people decide when it is best to dive.
It's very dark outside and the thunder is still rolling.

I rarely complain about weather, but I think this is enough rain for a while.

No Mossies ?!! Champion, you gotta be joking - where the heck is that ....... I went out picking up beach-trash this afternoon - during a major strong breeze - and yet I had a flock of the blood sucking nasties all over my bod. Thankfully said old body apparently no longer reacts and I neither feel them nor itch after they feast - but enough already. Summer is not supposed to be like October. I hereby register my formal complaint with ..... ??
Even so - all complaints aside - I would be nowhere else.
The sunset was beyond description - shadows, colors, clouds and rays of light I've never imagined much less seen .......

Lat nights mosquitoes were bigger than usual and very black.
Diane I have the same non-reaction to mosquitoes but these big black flies actual take hunks of meat out - they like my feet. I never feel them until they have taken a big bite. The good news is that they are slow and I can usually kill them before they get a second bite.

Probably what we call "Doctor Flies". Carry some Preparation-H with you. Best quick remedy for those pesky bites.

How do you get the doctor fly to hold still?
