Most interested to read that the Prime Minister said a letter of intent has been signed for the purchase of CC and a Four Seasons hotel will be established there if the deal goes through. We shall see!!

Now I would see that sort of prestigeous international name coming here as a big vote of confidence in Belize as a quality destination but what do others think?

Been in talks for quite a while, not sure of status, but always a good name to banter about at a press conference.

...imagine that will be some stiff competition for the Four Seasons on Blackadore.

I would like to see a major responsible developer get involved. From experience, when the major hotel chains look at Belize they do not see demographics sufficient to support the investment. Usually they say that their business is not developing destinations but serving existing markets.

I worked for some of the big hotels. Club Med, Decameron resorts.

One of the Major factors they look at in the Caribbean is the Beach.
That is a huge element in deciding where a resort is located.

Unfortunately we don't have the powder white sand beaches here.

Take a look at Kona, Hawaii where all the big hotel companies have built..often with little or no beach

Hawaii is in the South Pacific, not the Caribbean.
Belize is part of Caricom and is therefore considered as Caribbean

Unless Hawaii has drifted south of the equator since I was there last, it is in the North Pacific.
You and SP Daily might want to check and see if San Pedro grade school has a geography class you could attend. laugh
If you get in that class, you will also learn that Belize is part of Central America, not the Caribbean.

Hawaii, although not technically south of the equator is often reffered to as in the South Pacific.

Belize is a Central American country, but as I posted above is part of Caricom and therefore considered a Caribbean nation.

These are more of a pop culture label than a technically accurate one.

Ambergris caye in reality is composed of 2 Islands, North and South, if you want to get geographically technical about the whole issue. grin

Thanks, all good points - although not "technically" correct. smile
And, just to show my comments are meant in good spirits, I will buy you dinner and drinks as soon as the Four Seasons Hotel opens on Caye Chapel. laugh
