Saw this out at HCSRA last week.

Wondering why they even have a license after the incident at HCSRA with this company a while back.

Also wondering why they have so many on this boat and not enough guides. Cruise ship? You couldn't pay me enough money to get on this boat! Dangerous.

That is so irresponsible, where are the park rangers that are around to collect the fee. I can't even imagine that they are respectful of the reef of the animals that live there,

Note that this is the same tour company that had the "incident".

Hi All.
This trip on Saturday to Hol chan was a special group. They wanted one boat for their group of 45. There was one Licensed Tour guide per 6 people and one extra tour guide who was also the boat sideman and one licensed boat captain. The boat is licensed to carry 76 people by the Belize Port Authority. Everything was done according to BTB rules and regulations.
After all expenses paid out including the $20BZD per person for Hol Chan Marine Reserve, there is not much left over, when charging $90BZD a person, which is the going rate in Caye Caulker for this tour, including lunch, snorkeling gear, water and fruits. Gasoline is almost 12BZ a gallon and this boat required over 40 gallons to conduct this tour. Everyone had a great time. Unfortunately for these groups, their time is limited to one day and they choose to spend it all together in one boat.

That boat is licensed to carry 76 people? That in itself is crazy!

The Titanic's lifeboats were approved for 65 people each. Alot of good it did them.Just because it will float with 76 people doesn't mean its safe.

Just out of curiosity I once asked the he port authority how they determined the boats passenger capacity and they replied every 20 inches of seat space was equal to one. I looked around at the passengers on the Coastal Express that afternoon and saw a lot of people that should have been paying double fare :-)
I have some empathy for Tsunami Tours, sometimes you get a crazy group that want to all go on the same boat and you like to accommodate.
