I will be visiting Ambergris Caye from Aug 1st - 6th. I'm a big foodie, so I look to take cooking lessons for the local cuisine when I travel. Are there any restaurants, hotels, etc. that offer cooking class in San Pedro? Are there any restaurant owners on here who would be willing to coordinate a cooking class based on this request?

I look forward to any responses. smile

Cooking courses are a great idea. There have been some at resorts and lodges in Belize over the years, but more structured courses on a regular basis would be ideal.

There is always the option of hiring a personal chef for a few meals and stipulating that they are to let you 'help' smile

This is one fabulous idea!! I am a huge foodie and often spend an entire weekend day cooking for family members and friends. I especially enjoy preparing food from countries I have visited, as I usually bring home a cookbook.

On AC, I would vote for Chef Jeff at Rojo or the chef at Mangos to teach me how to cook some of their recipes and after that, sit down and chow. LOL

If you ever find yourself in New Orleans, check this one out:

Great fun, a small group of folks, each required to contribute to the meal...then, everybody sits down and eats it, along with lots of great wine.

If copies are still available, try to snag a "To Catch a Cook" coobkbook while there, favorite recipes from South Ambergris Caye. Some really tasty recipes. Bon apetit!
