I am off to AC on my honnymoon in a couple of weeks. I plan on doing a lot of diving, packing shorts, t-shirts and flipflops. My wife to be is insisting that I pack some nice "lets dress up for diner clothes." What do ya'll think? Will I be wasting some valuable divegear suitcase space?

thanks

If you wear your flip flops to dinner at the nicest restaraunts on the island, you'll be overdressed. Leave the "nice dressy clothes" at home

Are you kidding!! Don't even pack long pants.

In the states you go into a place and there's a sign saying...no shoes, no shirt, no service.

On AC the sign says...no shoes, no shirt, no problem!!!

Leave the dressy stuff at home. You can go to any restaurant on the island with no shoes on. A nice, cool, long dress that will blow in the breeze will be nice for her (and no shoes), and kahki shorts and T-shirt (OK, with a collar if you really want to be dressy) will be great for you (and no shoes). If she forces you, you won't be too uncomfortable in some long kahki's or chinos (but you won't stay in them for long!)

Have a wonderful time!

Kathy

On our first trip, I insisted that we bring some dressy clothes. We wasted valuable gear space!!! Don't do it. You'll find that it's way to warm to wear what most of us call "dressy". You'll both be happier with t-shirts/tanks, shorts & flip flops.

If your honey wants to dress a little, maybe she'll want a sarong & tank top. It's festive & completely in line with local dress.

After two trips and our third planned for thanksgiving I've almost got it down! [Linked Image]

I had many great (lobster) dinners in shorts. Many of the restaurants don't even have a solid floor, it is so casual! It is a refreshing change from a lot of other places in the Caribbean. Your wife may like a sarong to get dressed up, but nothing too fancy - leave the nice heels at home and relax! [Linked Image]
