Belize Weather Forecast: August 17, 2012

General Situation:
Ambergris Caye: Conditions this morning by Elbert just before or after this post!
Belize NMS: Conditions will become less moist and unstable later today.
Advisories: *Small craft caution in effect for the coastal waters of Belize.*
24-hour forecast: Cloudy at times with a few showers, thunderderstorms and periods of rain mainly along coastal areas and in the north this morning, then inland this afternoon. Shower activity will then become isolated tonight.
Winds: East - southeast 10-20 knots with higher gusts near heavy showers and thunderstorms.
Marine Forecast:Today: Winds: E-SE 10-20 kt. With higher gusts; Seas: Moderate - rough; Waves: 4-7 ft.; a few showers and thunderstorms (decreasing after midday). Outlook: (Saturday night): Winds: East - southeast 5-15kt.; Seas: Choppy; Waves: 3-4ft.; isolated showers or isolated thunderstorms.
Sea Surface Temp (°F): 84
Outlook: For Saturday and Saturday night is for partly cloudy skies with only isolated showers or isolated thunderstorms.

Tropical Weather Outlook: Tropical Storm Gordon was located about 1195 miles west of the Azores with maximum sustained winds of 65 mph. The remnants of Tropical Depression number 7 are showing some signs of development in the extreme southwestern Gulf of Mexico and have a medium chance of re-developing into a tropical cyclone over the next day or two.

WEEKLY WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR BELIZE
Valid: Sunday-Monday, Aug. 12-20, 2012

An active tropical wave, the remnants of tropical depression seven, is moving into the central Caribbean this evening. This tropical wave is tracking westward at 20 mph. At this rate this system will reach the shores of Belize late Wednesday night. Showers and thunderstorms will begin affecting areas of coastal Belize as early as Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. The airflow over the NW Caribbean will remain moist and unstable on Thursday through Sunday, supporting more outbreaks of showers and thunderstorms over most districts.

Rainfall rates will be in the range of 0.10-0.25 of-an-inch on Sunday, Monday and most of Tuesday. Daily rainfall rates will be on the increase, especially over central and northern areas from Tuesday night through Thursday, ranging from 1.00-2.00 inches. Over other areas daily rainfall rates will be in the range of 0.50-1.00 inch during this period. Rainfall rates for Friday through Sunday will range from 0.25-0.75 of-an-inch concentrated mostly over central and northern coastal areas.

TD Seven is well past us and in the G of Mexico, there is a tropical wave east of Africa which may have an impact at some point but the opening paragraph doesnt make sense.

that is from the Belize weekly weather outlook aug 12-20 by Mr. Frutos. It was correct on aug 12 when that forecast went out.

more recent info is above it in todays Belize NWS report:

The remnants of Tropical Depression number 7 are showing some signs of development in the extreme southwestern Gulf of Mexico and have a medium chance of re-developing into a tropical cyclone over the next day or two.

He will have a new weekEND report out today probably.
