This from his wife...they were separated for some time but there was still much family togetherness: (it was written a couple of days ago)

"To my dear Friends and family
By now most of are aware as to what has happened to Jeff.
It is with such heart break and sorrow that I have to tell you that Jeff had a freak fatal accident.
I loved him so much and miss him. He will always be in my heart forever. He had the best heart in the world. He cared so much for people that he came in contact with. he always had that olive branch out to people.
Most of all is was the best father and grandfather anyone could ever have. He adored his daughter Tracy and was so proud of his son Scott, who was his best friend. Scott's accomplishments were beyond anything Jeff could have ever expected from his son, graduating from college while going to the police academy at the same time. That was an unbelieve task that could not make Jeff prouder of Scott. He was so proud of him that he could not wait to ride with him when Scott was working. He beamed from ear to ear with such pride. Shari just had a new baby and was so happy to have Danielle as a new addition to our family. Taylor was his princess, Matthew monster as he called him was his new fishing buddy who he could not wait to take fishing. He used to bring home candy which the kids called poppy's stash and they would hunt the house until they found it and little Justin he could not wait to see because every time he saw him he ran to poppy to get him a big hug and kiss on his lips that made Jeff melt.
His family was his life.
He loved to travel and his bags were always packed for his next trip.

Jeff's funeral is Sunday September 2 which would have been our 36th anniversary. It will be held at Mt Sinai funeral chapel, 454 Cranbury Rd, East Brunswick NJ at !!:45 am sharp

RIP Cap't. I spoke to him several times about the travel industry and remember when he first started coming to SP. He said Belize was his "flavor of the day" at that time and who knew how long he would feel that way. That was about 10-12 years ago and he never lost his taste for it. Like so many of us, he was hooked for life....livin' the dream every month. Aside from Belize, he was a very prominent member of the travel industry including Centaurion for Holland America Cruise lines. I will look for the write up they will no doubt do in the industry mags and will post when I see it. SP has lost a great benefactor & friend....

my sincerest sympathies to the family and to those who were closest to him. We went fishing once, down here...and spoke regularly when i first arrived in San Pedro.

Shocking how many great people we meet - and lose.

be peaceful my friend.

May his family take comfort in the knowledge that he did indeed live his dreams.

I only met Jeff by way of his contributions to the message board, but even at that distance it's clear that he touched many a life in a positive way, and that he will be profoundly missed by a lot of good people.

We may have lost a friend but Heaven got one heck of a fisherman who chose to LIVE THE DREAM! Tight lines my friend, tight lines.

But why eat my vegetables I already know that I am short!

How very very sad to hear of Jeff's passing.
I can only think that God wanted him as a fishing partner to round out his crew.
I'll always remember the days we fished together and his constant smile.
Oh Yeah! and of course all the Sticky notes in the " Love Shack"
Rest in peace Buddy! Tight lines my friend

I never met Jeff, but I am saddened by his passing. From what I have read on this thread, San Pedro has lost a great friend.

My prayers to his family and friends.

The Capt was a treat to be around, that is for sure. I believe a lot of us will still be catching ourselves thinking, "I wonder when the Capt is coming back?" for a long time.

I didn't know Capt. Jeff but he sounds like he was a good, well respected man. That's the best you can hope for when being remembered by friends and neighbors. RIP...
