And a police report from your country of origin and I would think allegations of murder would put a damper on the process...

Second Slovak murder suspect reportedly resident in Belize
In addition to murder suspect Karol Mello, whose case has been closely followed in recent weeks by the Slovak media, another Slovak with a criminal past has sought refuge in the Central American state, the Nov Čas daily reported on Wednesday, September 26.

Viliam Mienka, who is accused by Slovak police of five murders and the theft of more than 5 million, also currently lives in Belize, allegedly as Mello's neighbour. The daily quotes an anonymous source from Belize who said that Mienka is conducting business related to real estate and is a partner in an internet cafe. The Slovak police and the local authorities are reportedly aware of his presence in Belize.

Mienka and Mello are joint suspects in two cases, the murders of Peter Čongrdy and of Jozef Gudab. According to Nov Čas, the two fugitives met in Kosovo in July 2011, before their respective moves to Belize.

On Thursday, September 27, Nov Čas reported that the X Lounge bar in San Pedro, Belize, which according to local media belongs to Mello, has been offered for sale on the coldwellbankerbelize.com website. "Sellers are moving and need to sell," the ad states.

Meet Mr. Mishenka

Mr. William Mishenka, current resident of the Belize Yacht Club, is my kinda guy. He doesn't do anything half-way. It's believed he murdered his own uncle over some family business disputes. He's also believed to be involved in four other murders. One incident involved machine guns, knives and maiming of the victims. Mr. Mishenka is also believed to be involved in the largest bank robbery in Slovak history. That escapade took place on January 6th, 1996 and resulted in the theft of 5,742,547 Euros (that's 173 million USD kiddies!). Slovak media says he is paying off the authorities and their source says succinctly "the system is corrupt in Belize." One other thing worth noting -- one article I read says there may be as many as 20 other Slovaks on San Pedro. Based on the record of the two guys, I can't wait to find out the pedigree of these other folks.....most wanted....biggest bank robbery...what's the next superlative? This article has some nice videos you can watch. I think this whole Slovak "thing" has reached the stage where it's time for Belizeans to be, um, concerned...

From a friend....

I've lived at The Belize Yacht Club on and off for 8 years and I've never seen this guy there. Where did the information come from that he lives at BYC, just interested as this stuff if being posted and not all the facts may be correct. Thanks

Actually $5,733,000 Euros is only $7,370,000 USD. So let's not make the guy out to be that bad...

It's interesting stuff...and interesting the spin that both "sides" are putting on it.

Either I'm to believe that Interpol is cruelly and wrongly targeting Belizean-Slovakians with dubious Belizean residency or these guys are really scary...

Or...I don't know what to believe.

I've never seen either of these guys but then, I don't get out so much.

This story isn't really adding up for me either. If you or others you know have ever been unfairly accused, you might agree that it is wise to give these guys the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

On the other hand, there are absolute proven criminals in our midst that deserve this level of media attention....

San Pedro Sun Names Another Slovak Fugitive

Last week we told you about press reports from Slovakia which said that another fugitive form their country was in San Pedro. Well today's San Pedro Sun reports that the Slovakian man is Viliam Misenka who is listed on the Interpol wanted list.

The paper says that a senior member of the Police Department in Belmopan confirmed to The San Pedro Sun that they had been aware of Misenka's presence in San Pedro Town.

In an interview with 7news, Immigration Minister Godwin Hulse denied any knowledge of Misenka's presence in Belize. Here's what he told us last week Friday:..

Jules Vasquez
"We see in the Slovakian media - I know you wish to thread carefully but that another Slovakian person in interest is in Belize. Is this information that you at the immigration ministry have received?"

Hon. Godwin Hulse, Minister of Immigration
"Not yet."

If Hulse seemed reluctant to comment, he may have been wise not to - as last time his comments resulted in the up-ending of the case to expel the other wanted Slovakian Karol Mello.
