Hi everyone,
We just got back from our week of paradise in AC. I'm telling you it was sheer heaven. At first we thought we may have to sit tight in Miami in case Iris hit, but all was well when we got to San Pedro on the 9th. We were the first 4 people at Victoria House with only 2 staff members present yet. It felt like a private island when we arrived. The water was still a little churned up from the storm, but there was no damage anywhere on the island. There where many relief efforts on the way to help the people of Placencia and that region. We participated as much as we could. People born and raised in San Pedro had many stories to tell of how hard they all worked to get the island rebuild after last years hurricane, now there is hardly any sign of left over damage.
The island is even more beautiful then I had imagined and I got up early every morning to watch the glorious sunrise from our balcony, then snuck back to bed and later dragged out the honey with coffee to head for the boat. We fished until our arms hurt and snorkelled almost everyday. After such activity, I felt the "Pantyrippers" where only appropriate and thank God our bed was just a few shuffels away from the bar. The fun part was stepping carefully to avoid the giant crabs all over the walkways at night.
Yes, the mosquitos got us good one night after it rained and we walked back from San Pedro....but the belikins tasted especially good after that.
We met the nicest people ever while in AC, starting with the staff at Victoria, the fishing/snorkling guides Franciso and Severro and alot of really cool people just happy to have made it to the island despite a near hit by Iris.
There are still so many things to do and see there, so we will definitely go back in April. Jim from the Pier Lounge, you were no where to be found on our bar-hopping night last Thursday(?) and the chicken drop had been cancelled. We'll catch you next time. We have some great pics, trying to figure out how to post them. Any hints?

Yes, it's a wonderful place. Not only beautiful, but still unpretentious and bit funky. Having modestly sized lovely places instead of gigantic glass faced high-rise buildings with 800 balconies keeps it human in perspective.

And the people of AC are absolutely wonderful. THEY have kept the human perspective. That's why we're building there and will eventually become two of them.
