WHERE DID THE WATER GO?: The Five Blues Lake national park in the Cayo district is a ten-acre natural wonder neatly situated in the tropical rain forest of southern Belize. But a phenomenon which was first observed about six years ago is back. Virtually all the water from the lake has disappeared. According to the president of Friends of 5 Blues Lake, Mario Perez, he started to notice the water disappearing from the lake in the middle of October and now it is almost all gone. Perez says that the last time that the lake dried up, it took three hundred and forty four days for the water to return. Unlike the incident in 2006, Perez says that this time around, much more water has been left on the bed of the lake than the last incident.
Patrick Jones comments....you are right we dont have lakes....they are just sink holes or area where the rock weather and erode.
Seeing that the fault line pass south of Belize, maybe neighboring Guatemala's earthquake is a clue, to these ponds disappearing water.

5 blues was dry in Sept 2004. I drove over a dry lake looking for them.
