Be careful. Last night I had an intruder in my yard. Alerted and awakened by my new camera warning system, I rushed out to confront him with plans to put a good beating on him. My heart was racing, blood and adrenalin pumping and I nearly missed recognising him in the dark. Turned out it was my next door neighbour foolishly borrowing some blocks at 2am. Imagine if I had overreacted and had a gun or whooped him in the head with my baseball bat...............

Yep, gotta be level headed. If you see someone in the yard observe, turn on the flood lights, shout or blow a whistle or air horn. DO NOT confront them.

If they are in your house you can wallop them, even if its your neighbour!

The gun laws are pretty strict. If you shoot a man that doenst have a gun be prpared to face some jail time. Do not shoot in the back either!

BORROWING blocks? At 2 AM? Does this person need a brain transplant?

Neighbor or NO - I think you should have given him at least one good whoop! What else has he borrowed? AND - why is stealing called borrowing? Was he planning to return them?

It took me a few years to learn that 'borrow' means 'give.'

This was along the lines of our one way conversation, with a liberal amount of industrial adjectives thrown in.

I was told to keep a machete in the bike shed and if some one came on to my property to do me or family harm shoot him and then give him the machete. This came from the Police Inspector at the time.

Hi Phil - We've been looking at camera systems, so I'd be very interested in knowing what system you installed.
Thanks so much!

Similar to this but not exactly the same, mine might have been superseded as it has 4 cameras that are the same as here and an extra controller box that seems to now be integrated in the screen. Wireless Cameras so you just need power for them and no video cables and when the motion sensor sets the camera recording only when it sees movement and best for me it also sets off an alarm. I have mine set up next to the bed so I flip on the monitor and see what set it off. Took some tinkering to get it set up right as tress/plants/washing waving in the breeze and animals can set it off but got there so very few false alarms now. Really pleased with it for less than US$500.
