Here's a question for those of you who travel to Mexico. Is there a way to get from either Belize City or Corozal to Cancun or Merida without taking a bus? We will be moving in a few months and are taking our pets with us, and they can't ride on the bus. So I'm not sure how we're going to do it. We are looking for either a rental car place that will let us take the car over the border and drop it off in Cancun or Merida or a service where you can hire a car to drive you.

Thanks in advance!

If your pets will fit in a carrier and fit on a bus seat you can buy tickets on express bus for them to have seats, I have done this a few times in Belize, not Mexico. You will get some stink eye from passengers but hold your own, you have purchased seats. This wont work on regular buses. Morales transfer is also a good choice. Or you could take a water taxi to San Pedro, then to Chetumal, San Pedro Express has dog crates of all sizes. You may be able to rent a car in Chetumal.

My list of transfer services based in Corozal...

a) Belize VIP Transfer Service, http://www.belizetransfers.com

b) George & Esther Moralez Travel Service,
http://www.gettransfers.com

c) Gibson's Tours and Transfers,

I know a family who used a transfer service to bring their cat with them to Belize. I can't remember which service they used, but said it was excellent. I've seen some of the vehicles of the first two on the list -- vehicles appeared in new condition and the drivers appeared to be professional & courteous.

And some others...

d) William's Belize Shuttle, www.parrot-nest.com/belize_shuttle.html
William is based in San Ignacio -- don't know if he'll go to Mexico.

e) Discounted Belize Shuttles and Tours,

Judging by the amount of dogs George has in his yard pretty sure he is dog friendly!
