Will be coming to AC in April/May. Currently looking at Banyan Bay, Victoria House, and Mata Chica. All look great on their websites. Any reason to steer clear of any of the above? Hoping to hang-out alot, fish a little and spend some time inland. What about Caye Caulker? Is a daytrip feasible/worth it? What kink of weather should we expect in late april/early may?

Hey, Don't know anything bout those particular resorts, but I do know that a trip to Caye Caulker is worth it! It's a tiny island, real pretty, good food. You should like it!

B&J, You are right about Caye Caulker, Almost the best time i had while in Belize!
I'll bet that it will be hard to repeat that good time this year!! I intend to try though!...Richard
It will be hard to beat the nite in Corozal sleeping in the hammock at "Hok'ol k'in" overlooking Chetumal bay though! I don't think i slept more than 1 hour that first nite in Belize!

One reason you might want to steer clear of Mata Chica is that it is pretty far north of the river cut, in my opinon. That means you will need a boat ride back and forth - boats don't run in stormy weather, nor at all hours, so you would be limited by these factors. Search this board for North & River and you will find the pros & cons. What do you mean by hang out? Hang out alone in your hammock, under a palm tree - then mata chica could be perfect. Hang out along the beach, with diffent people & entertainment, at various fine refreshment stops - then you will probably not like the isolation up north (hammocks & palm trees can be found anywhere).
There are many trips to fish & snorkle on the way to & fro Caye Caulker, we go at least once per trip for the past 13 years, definitely worth it -IMHO.
In April I have experienced Warm Sunny Tropical weather with occasional storms and wind shifts. 83-93 degrees F, variable wind, water temp in the 80's. Perfect IMHO!
Belize it!

So, staying a few nights at CC is a good idea, or is it better off as a day trip? any hotel suggestions there?
