Here are details on the Medical Safety Program and the next Belize Red Cross commercial grade first aid course. Tuesday March 19th 2012
Course Location: Fido's
Course: starts at 9:00am and will finish by 4:30pm
Cost: $50bz per participant with all funds raised going to the Red Cross.
Lunch: $13 bzd and basic drink is included. Advance payment and registry required
to register your staff please contact me at email@example.com this course is open to anyone not just businesses. We have sponsorship program in place for those like Teachers who should be trained and could use a hand getting it. If you know someone worth sponsoring or you would like to sponsor a spot please let me know. So far The Phoenix, SACNW and Blue Tang are all sending staff for training and Black Orchid has pledged to host an April training at the restaurant and have 6 of their staff get certified.
Our goal is to bring awareness to both tourists and locals of the business have trained staff onsite. By sending staff ongoing for certified first aid training and refresher courses, these businesses are committed to making Belize a safer place to live and travel. We will eventually map this out by district and make it available. Any skilled tech map oriented people out there who would be willing to help in this important process?
All businesses who send staff to get certified as part of the Belize Medical Safety Program will receive a dated website button to be linked back to the Belize Red Cross course details page. The Belize Red Cross will link back to all businesses that send staff. This will help let people know that your business has a specific number of trained staff on hand.Course Details:
Topics are not limited to but will include: Heart Attacks, Asthma, Stroke, Diabetes, Seizures, Allergic Reactions, Water Emergencies
Attendees will all be able to recognize and treat the following injuries: Head and Spinal injuries, Chest and Abdominal injuries Extremity injuries and Soft Tissue injuries, Shock and Bleeding, Burns
They will also be trained in: Bandaging and splinting & New CPR Guidelines
This course is recognized by the Belize Red Cross and an official certificate valid for 1 year will be issued to participants who have successfully completed the course.Some Highlights and press from the Medical Safety launch in November:
At the San Pedro launch 15 people sent from the Phoenix, Victoria House and South AC neighborhood watch learned how to use a defibrillator.
Between the two districts of Punta Gorda and San Pedro, the following businesses are now part of the Belize Red Cross Medical Safety program and have now have commercial first aid trained staff: Tropic Air, The Phoenix, Victoria House, Banana Beach, Exotic Caye, Scotia Bank, American Crocodile Education Sanctuary, South Ambergris Caye neighborhood watch, BRC National Intervention team, BRC Regional Intervention Team, Reef CI, Coral House Inn, Blue Reef Adventures, Southern Eco Adventure Dive And Fishing Tours.
