My boyfriend and I want to come to AC for our honeymoon in May 2002. We will be there from 5/13 - 5/20. I have been investigating where to stay and I can't decide between Journey's End and Victoria House. We will not do a meal plan so that we can try various places, so I am looking for advice on these two resorts. We are looking for an upscale and laid-back place where we can feel pampered while still accessing the island culture. Also, I would love to take an excursion/hike to a waterfall area, any suggestions? One last thing, is a trip to the jungle worthwhile? We would love to explore the nature.

Between those two, for location, management, food, accommodations, nearly everything save possibly price, Victoria House wins hands down.

The Vic will be perfect. Close your eyes and squint and you can imagine yoursely in some Caribbean Hemingway story. At JE access to the town is more difficult as you must take the hand ferry or water taxi and after dark that can be a problem.

TJ - I just got back from Belize about a month ago. I stayed at Journey's End and had a blast. The staff was really nice and attentive. I was by myself and still managed to have the time of my life. I didn't go on the waterfall tour, but I was talking to another couple that was going a few days later. I did go on a Mayan Ruin trip and was able to hike through the jungle. Overall, the food and service I received at their restaurant was great. I am planning another trip in March. Good luck on your wedding.

Hello TJ,
I invite you to contact me directly for more accurate information on Journey's End. We have many honeymoon couples stay with us. Privacy, seclusion and lots of space is one of the reasons we have very happy guests. We are proud of our services, management and amenities that many resorts lack. It is sad and disturbing that the so called experts have to make such inaccurate statements. Please make your decision based on fact and not someone elses opinion.
I may be reached at 800.460.5665 or e-mail [email protected] for any concerns or questions.

Thanks, Jonathan

We have not stayed at either of the two but had breakfast and lunches at Victoria House.
It is a wonderful resort and closer to town than Journey's. However, we stayed up North at Captain Morgan's and just loved being so secluded. It was very romantic and I think the north part of the Island is is more beautiful. Here is my recomendation. Stay some nights at Journey's and some at Victoria. Each resort has a different feel and location. We do this kind of thing on almost every vacation and love getting different experiences at different resorts. 2 years ago we stayed on Roatan for 4 nights and AC 4 nights. Last year we stayed 6 nights on AC and 3 at Pooks Hill in the Cave Branch area. We don't care if we need to pack and unpack and additional time it is well worth it. Try it!!
