Hi Everyone,

Sorry for posting this twice accidentally.

Appreciate all your help in the past with my Lawyer questions, big help (JudyAnn).

My wife and I are on the way to Belize in June for an inspection trip and of course a vacation. It has been about 9 yrs since our last visit.

We are coming to look at real estate and I am wondering what people's thoughts are about the DFC village area? Is it safe, who generally lives there? It seems we can afford a place in this area but don't want to jump until we see the neighborhood etc. A good starter home while we get things moving.

Advice?

Thanks

Peter

Advice? Gather info now via the internet, real estate web sites, opinions (including mine which could be worthless) and build a picture but treat it with a pinch of salt. Give it 10% weight. The other 90% will come when you are here talking to lots of people and seeing lots of properties, agents and other owners, residents and natives.

We moved here 12 yrs ago and our internet research had us living in Placencia. I doubt we'd have survived if we'd stuck with that and our arriving finances - but we weren't retiring.

Thanks Phil,

Will do, that is exactly why we are coming to AC, check out everything with our own eyes. We have been before about 9 years ago. We love Belize, no doubt about that but the end of the day, before I make any moves I want to be sure it will fit what we are looking for.

This is why I started the internet research now.

Maybe we will see you out in AC in June.

Peter

we have a house in the dfc along with three other canadians in the block. we love it there along with our local neighbours and the other people living in the dfc. made the right choice buying there, people are friendly and feel safe there. you have to spend money on your house as well as landscaping and a fence to keep the dogs out. we are more than happy there and it seems more canadians and americans are buying there and fixing the houses up

Hi, Thanks for the positive update. From the looks of it, more our style and more rustic. We expect to have to do a few things with the home first.

Looking forward to dropping down to Belize in June.

JudyAnn,

Thanks, we will drop in to say hi when we are there in June.

Appreciate your help, answering our questions.

Peter
