Hello,
My boyfriend and I will be in Belize 12/28-1/1 and are going to complete our PADI certification referral open water dives in Belize. I have heard different things about different dive shop/centers. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to complete our certification or where NOT to complete it. I was looking into Blue Hole Dive center or Patojo's Scuba Center. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend Barefoot Water Sports. I dove with them earlier this year and they are terrific. I know that they do referral dives for Certification, I think most dive shops there do. My opinion is that Barefoot has the best boats on the island and Mike & Dawn (the owners) are terrific!! There was no rushing on the dives, and I felt completely safe.

Dear M&D,

We just did our open water certification dives this past July with Hustler Tours. They were wonderful!

Billy Leslie was fantastic at helping us adjust to the underwater world for the tests and we felt very confident after having been diving with him. My husband had recently learned how to swim and felt completely at ease in Billy's hands.

Went back (again) this Thanksgiving and dove with Hustler a second time. Had a blast and finally reached "neutral buoyancy nirvana"! Hustler's website is http://www.scubadivingbelize.net/
