Often the first Tropical Storm of the Year comes at us either from the Pacific, or results from action in the Pacific, if early in the year.

Hurricane Arthur in 2008 was first named Alma, when it developed in the Pacific 29 May 2008, it crossed Honduras and reformed in the Caribbean, the first Tropical Storm to actually be named 30 May 2008, after it made landfall on Belize and went over Corozal.

As you can see, there is a lot of ITCZ activity developing in the Pacific.

There is also the first rotating mass of the year, in the Atlantic, to the NE of the Caribbean.

No threats to us yet, but we do have to start watching and preparing now.

Mid Summer for Belize is around the 20 May, that is when the Sun will be at its highest, or directly overhead at midday, then it will go north of us, as our average temperatures will then cool a little and the rains starts, crossing us again in August, which sometimes, caused a dip in rain and higher temperatures.
