Where, in Belize, can I find an assisted living facility for an elderly friend?

Right now the alternatives for an elder care residential situation are limited.
I'd start with a call to Rosinell Craig - My Cielo Blue - you can google it and find her - I'll also look up the contact info and post it later this morning. She has an agency that places caregivers in homes and is planning on opening a residential care facility this year if all goes well. If she can't help your friend directly, I believe she will be able to refer you to somebody who can do so.
Rosinell is amazing and really "gets it".

Cielo Blue is in Belize City in Buttonwood Bay. Might make more sense to hire caretakers to mind this person in their own home, 24/7, if required. Sister Cecila Home in Belize City. Octavia Waight in San Ignacio, which is the better of the two

I have often said that a group of doctors should buy one of these empty resorts and make it an assisted living facility. The Belizeans seem to take good care of their elders but there are many of us expats living here who do not have family and don't want to leave the island. Sure seems like it would be a good business.
Either that or a drug and alcohol recovery facility.

I'm with you ScubaLady,,, I firmly believe that a "First Class,State of the Art" Assisted living facility, on the island & with an ocean view, owned and operated by competant medical professionals, would be a veritable "gold mine", and I would like to a party to it. I can invision 1/2 the residents of Miami Beach wanting a room there. How does one get the medical pros there to see the oppertunity? Any medics who would like to talk with me about it can email me at;; [email protected]

I have often thought that an assisted living/nursing home facility is a natural fit for Belize and the economy and workforce there. The problem I ran into every time I did a semi good analysis is the issue of what to do with patients when they became seriously ill. There is simply not access to the medical facilities anywhere in Belize you would need to make this work. You also have to deal with all the bureaucracy that Belizeans and their government seem to thrive on. It would simply be too large a financial risk given all the circumstances.

Having said all that if someone wanted to actually do this I am available to assist them on a part time basis as a consultant.

Too bad, because a place like the Gaz Cooper' old Playa Blanca Beach Club would be a great fit since it is no longer a viable resort.

I immediately thought of Journey's End. (I just. got what a pun this would be) lol
It would be necessary to think along the lines of building in a remote part of the USA - not in or near a city.creatives minds working together can result in miracles.
BUT - you have to want it bad enough to take some risks.
