Hello All
I'm Matt from New Orleans starting to put the retirement plan to work as will be done working in 7-10 years. Live on the water off of Lake Pontchartrain with a great significant other who is coming with me to visit and is all in for becoming expatriots when the time comes. My neighbor is a native from Belize that I believe will come with us someday but not this trip. Spending 7 days (somewhere) hope to get some study in on the retirement issue/places to live, condo's/homes ect...!! Also want to have some fun (Love to Party). There's so much info it gets overwhelming and I like to get recommendations from those who have been there done that. So with that said, all correspondance welcomed and appreciated. How's Paradice doing Y'all....?

Hello Matthew,

We had been visiting San Pedro for 10 years and purchased a couple of pieces of property during that time. Last year we moved here full time after completing a 5 year plan to open a Restaurant. Please feel free to stop by and see us while you are here.....You'll find our area quiet, safe and pleasantly populated with other retirees...... Be sure and ask for Judyann or Tom

smile

My wife and I visited San Pedro for the first time last Feb. We stayed at Pedro's Hotel, and liked it very much. Reserve a room in the new annex, as they are the best. It's not super fancy, but it's comfortable and the people there are cool as can be. I hope you have as good of a time as we did. There is a place called Denny's Donuts a few blocks away across from Ramon's resort that has a good cheap breakfast. Enjoy!

Visited once in Jan. Loved it so much bought some land , Came back a few months later to seal the deal. Plan on building on in the next year. We are younger than most people that buy over there but plan on retiring early!

Phil, I Like to think we are not included in the 'most' statement.
I believe many more younger/pre-retirement people are buying and moving to Belize. Its no longer just 'old people'. smile

We won't be retiring for about 30 years, but we bought some land now because my wife and I are pretty sure we want to end up in Belize. Can't afford to build anything now, but we're not in a rush and we secured our place on an island that is not going to get any bigger. Hopefully the sea level doesn't rise over the next 30 years! grin
