I've heard OK things about Mata Rocks, but, haven't stayed there because I like being closer to town.

In my opinion, Mata Rocks is on the far edge of convenient walkability - I wouldn't stay anyhere farther south of town than Xanadu without a bike or golf cart.

Take a look at the map on this url - //www.ambergriscaye.com/pages/town/mapdowntowndetail.html - many of the places shown are linked. You'll see that just about everyplace between Coconuts and Mata Rocks says that they're a mile (or a 15 minute walk) south of town.

Hi. I stayed in 1 of the 2 jr. suites there in May for 8 nights. The beach is nice, the property is nice and the beach bar and drinks are great. Also, get continental breakfast in the a.m. Coffee, rolls, fruit, fresh juice. It is about 1-1/2 miles from town, though. This May, I am staying closer to town.

1 1/2 miles from town is correct. They have free bike's for you. I have stayed next door at Banana Beach and the ride to town took 10 mins or so. There is a great little grocery across the street where you can but water, ice, beer etc. San Telmos is 5 mins away and there are a few great spots to eat there as well. Tropica is two doors down and they have a nice resturaunt and great beach. Have fun!!
