We are staying at the Phoenix and we're looking for a spot we can get to by golf cart where we can do some shore snorkeling or rent a kayak to snorkel and tie up to a buoy. I don't believe the Phoenix has any kayaks or we would snorkel from there. Any advice? Thank you.

The Phoenix is a 5 star hotel. I am sure their concierge will be able to help you out.

Walk 2 doors down to the Blue Tang... I am sure they will rent theirs to you.

Do people often kayak out to Reef from San Pedro area? Phoenix said I have to be with a guided boat?

You can see the reef from the beach. You don't need a guided boat. Take a kayak and tie to a buoy not the reef and enjoy.

Heck walk two doors down and snorkel off the dock at Blue Tang and a few steps further off Wet Willies dock. You'll be amazed at what is under and around all the docks just stay close and watch for boat traffic.

great, thanks everybody. Any other spots to snorkel from shore? We are diving throughout the week but I love to just go out for a quick snorkel.

AJ AzBob is absolutely right. Wet Willy's has a ladder towards the end of the dock to use for getting out --- getting in is easy --- jump. This is virtually in your front yard.
