I have done it several times. Not so hard it just takes time and a lot of patience. Pick up shipping documents from the shipping agent after having paid for the shipping. Head to the docks, Pay for the storage time your stuff was in the warehouse. Go into the customs shed they will pull your stuff and a customs agent will open everything with you standing there. They'll want to know the value of everything contained in the shipment. If used you give a guessimated value, if new bring invoices. If you don't know, they can search online for the value. They then tell you what the duty will be along with the GST and any other fees associated with the shipment. You are then cleared for moving your stuff out of there. I either put it directly onto the barge for Caye Caullker or take to the water taxi and bring it back. I figure I spend a day. Not sure whether a broker can get a better customs fee then what I get. Sometimes I think if I was Belizean I might get a better deal, but who knows. I think there is a maximum value that you can clear but yourself but nobody ever mentioned it to me. BTW, its not a particularly fun filled day.
