For what it's worth...I'm down in Placencia and just posted about Harvest Caye and MY OPINION. I went to the island yesterday...

Which is? It's AIN'T GOOD. This IS OUR BACKYARD.

Probably not good, but I would like to see more of what the locals in the area think, the Belizean working class people...already talked to one and the response was..."just progress". Surprised at that response. I understand the environmental issues and all that, but that is just one piece of the pie.

Talk to more people who studied flora/fauna, understand the implications these carrying capacities impact on our fragile environment, the economics, the social disruption and do more than speak with one local, who may or not have done research or is just hazarding an opinion. I think its the end of overnight tourism in the south and will also impact poorly on all of Belize, including Ambergris. This MOU is a gift from Belize to Costa Rica for their overnight tourism biz. If you would like more info to be better informed, as you should be, let me know and will send to you and anyone else. And will post for you all to read.

Where?

That is the area of land the govt put aside for special development, but we had hoped for something of a more intelligent, sustainable and useful purpose. But I guess the stumbling block is intelligence.
