Earlier in the newscast, we told you about the National Road Safety Committee which is being set up to look after the infrastructural integrity of our major highways, the Belize Fisheries Department will be holding a series of public consultations.
The Department is inviting the General Public and all fishermen to take part in the “Revision of the Fisheries Regulations” consultations that are set to commence on the 28th of August. According to the Fisheries Department, the revision of subsidiary laws is being facilitated through the ACP Fish II Program which is funded by the European Union.
The first stop in the consultation process is at Sarteneja Village including Chunox and Copper Bank within the Corozal District. The venue at the fishing village will be in the Old School and will take place between the hours of 1:00pm to 4:00pm on the 28th of this month.
In this consultation, the Fisheries Department is hoping to engage stakeholders of the fishing industry to give their input in efforts of updating the fisheries regulations in hopes of strengthening the management of marine and inland fisheries resources. Other stops in the consultation process include, San Pedro Town, Caye Caulker, Belize City, Hopkins Village, Placencia Village, Independence Village and Punta Gorda Town.CTV3
