CBSC - Corozal Bay Regatta 12th and 13th October 2013 - The general public and all sail boat enthusiasts are invited to attend the annual Corozal Bay Regatta on the weekend of 12th and 13th October. The series of sailboat races will take place on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning featuring up to 5 races with the youth sailboat Optimist. This regatta is being held in conjunction with and as one of the events of the Annual Festival de la Hispanindad y Mestizaje. The regatta races are being hosted by the Corozal Bay Sailing Club under the auspices of the Belize Sailing Association (BzSA.)
There are many unsung heroes in Belize that bring Optimist Sailing to reality for our youth sailors. This month’s national ranking regatta recognizes outgoing CBSC Commodore; Libby Fitzgerald (Retired) who led “the fleet” and kept the Youth Sailing Program a focus for CBSC, developing affiliations with the BzSA, not to mention her many hours “in the water” with the sailors. We welcome CBSC’s new Commodore Gerard Cordts who has been the “main stay” of the youth sailing program at CBSC from the start. BzSA shares with CBSC, a common mission in promoting & facilitating the sport of sailing in Corozal District; to provide programs that teach adults and youth water safety and basic sailing skills; to support our Belizean children who aspire to be sailors and to harness the power of "community" for the preservation of the Corozal Bay’s cultural heritage.
Come join us to cheer on these young sailors. We know Corozal is home to many of the fisherman that work on sailing vessels throughout Belize and encourage them to come enjoy the “fun side of sailing”. Food and drinks will be on sale throughout the grounds of the Festival de la Hispanindad y Mestizaje.
Notice of Race, Sailing Instructions and Administrative Instructions are available on request from: [email protected] or [email protected]
