Just wondering if it would make sense to rent a golf cart for the week if we are staying at Belizean Shores up North or would the water taxi route be better?

Is there a fee to go across the hand-pulled ferry with a golf cart? bike? just walkin'?

Any insight is greatly appreciated.... Cheers!!

Someone who lives or has a house on North Ambergris can answer you better, but I think I would like to have a golf cart there.

Belizean Shores if I recall is about as far north as you can easily go with a cart, but it would be handy for running to other points south of there and in going to town. Believe the fee for cart and passengers across the channel is now US$2.50 round-trip.

A few cart renters don't want you to take their carts north of the river.

Last time I was in SP (middle of last year) none of the golf cart rentals in SP wanted you to take your carts over the ferry north. I assume that the ones up north would be more agreeable since you would probably be renting one to go into town. Whatever check on getting one up north if you want to cross the ferry. Whatever get to Belize soon and enjoy before the Tourist come.

Most renters will let you take the cart up north; a few will not.

The Island Ferry is a lot faster, easier, cheaper and less dusty and bumpy. Without a doubt I would take the island ferry and not mess around with a golf cart. Seeing the stars at night from the water is simply beautiful as well.

The hand pulled ferry closes at 8pm so you could not use the cart past that time in SPR. It costs BZ$5 to cross with a cart and BZ$1 if you are walking or on a bike.

Enjoy your trip. Good Luck.
