BBC NEWS - BELIZE Challilo DAM

This BBC News expose was widely acclaimed at a time when the fate of the Amazon Rainforest was very much in the news headlines throughout the world.

As with all my videos I saw that my job was to work closely with the Producer mutually selecting the pictures and audio/music, treating them if necessary and deciding the best place for them to go. I was also able to make suggestions to the script. It is very much a team effort.

Thanks for the info Marty. There was a show on one the educational channels or discovery channel on a few weeks ago. There seems to be other alternatives such as solar or wind farms that has far less impact that should be explored.

If someone wants to gather a lot of signatures for a petition they should hang out at Goldson and grab all the tourists as they head out to pay their departure tax. Just my two cents.

Fortis is trying to make money. Fair enough, that's business. While the government of Belize continue to invite Fortis in, Belizeans will not be able to stop them.

Fortis are probably willing to pay backhanders to certain individuals within the government who are willing to accept the cash. Otherwise, there is no reason for the government to allow the project to continue.

Here in Belize we live with the fact that government is incredibly corrupt. We even accept it. We know that some government of Belize ministers make huge fortunes during their tenures as a result of corrupt practices. But, we should never accept it when the damage caused by the corruption is so manifestly damaging to Belize.

My point is, Fortis is just doing its job; they're trying to make money and they really don't care who they pay off or push over in the process. It's the GOVERNMENT of Belize that has the duty to stop this project. Robert F. Kennedy and stopfortis.org need to target the government otherwise Fortis is going to get their way.

Unfortunately, it is not Fortis who will learn the hard way. It is the people of Belize....ripped off again!

This topic came up a long time ago on the board and there were letters recommended to send to all involved. I sent letters out as requested, and was dumbfounded that I actually got a reply. Their come back was, that this was not a for sure thing. Ha!!! Lied to again!!! Makes my blood boil. Anybody here actually swim in the Macal River? It's heaven on earth. Surreal even. It breaks my heart.
