My best friend and I are contemplating a vacation to AC to celebrate our mutual birthdays. We would travel mid-May and are on a budget and are looking to spend approx. $100/night for a nice room (less if we can get away with it!). After doing a bit of research, I found the website for Sundiver Resort. Looks fabulous and they have a great off-peak special that's all-inclusive (although we prefer to sample many restaurants in AC). What's the real deal on this resort? I also liked The Paradise Villas and they are offering unbelievable off-peak prices that includes 6 free day trips. Is this place too good to be true? I also liked The Palms, Banana Beach, and Coconuts. Which place would you chose? Which one is your favorite? Any suggestions or advice you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

no way to pick a favorite, but Sundiver is very nice. Excellent food too. Our family spent quite a bit of time there last trip...

We are staying at Banana Beach for the first week of May. Tim quoted us a really good rate for 7 nights that seems to be in your price range. This will be our first trip to SP but I've heard alot of great things about Banana Beach.

Banana Beach for sure. You will not be disappointed. Just got back from my second stay there and it only got better. Tell Tim hi for me if you go.

One more thing, San Pedro is not a place where I'd do the all-inclusive thing as far as food is concerned. There are so many wonderful inexpensive places to eat. Why limit yourselves.

Thanks all for the great info! Began reading the hundreds of other lodging posts and Hideaway looks like a fun budget-friendly place. Is it the best of the budgets? Any other suggestions?

We stayed at the Blue Tang Inn last May and ended up paying approximately $100 a night in one of their nicest rooms and loved it! Remember that you can negotiate with most of these hotels, so don't base your cost assumption on the hotel's listed prices. I think that Tropica was the only hotel who wouldn't go down at least 10-15% off of their listed rates when I inquired last year.
