In Belama Phases Three and Four in Belize City, the waters have now invaded the low-lying landscape and have made the drains one with the streets. It made getting to and from home, work and home impossible for some people. According to Jose Pineda, the flooding in his area this time is so bad that he has been at home unable to get out for days now.
“We cannot work none at all; students have trouble going to school. It has never been this flooded before. We have trouble going out to work or school. My dad and mom cannot go to work.”
“How deep would you say the water is right now?”
Well different parts of it is at your knees like that hole right there that is very deep; about three or two feet.”
Residents of the area told Love News that they fear that the crocodiles in the nearby creek will find their way into their space.
