the weather people say "A gradual improvement is underway."
and
"in the Caribbean there is a large cluster of highly disorganized thunderstorm activity just to the southeast of the Yucatan Peninsula. Conditions are not favorable for these thunderstorms to develop into an organized tropical system, however, as moderate wind shear currently over the system will keep the system in check. As these thunderstorms move further north into the Gulf of Mexico, they will move into an even less conducive environment for development."
so maybe they the mess will start drifting north soon. Let's hope so.

Water in the road in front of Mata Grande Grocery is 20" deep right now at the deepest, maybe 16" at the shallowest. There is just noplace for this rain to go ! Anybody with a digger want to put a ditch down to the sea so we can get this place dried out just a little bit?

Digging the ditch to the sea worked like a gem for me. The back yard totally drained out. You just need a shovel and willingness to work hard...or there is also the bare-hand method...reach in your purse with your 'bare hand' and pull out some cash to give to someone else to dig it.
