From Belmopan last evening....
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE

There are a few showers showing up out there as at 17:45 BZT . . . But from the Satellite picture, looks like another Caribbean cloud area coming in tonight, but looks very clear behind that. . . . . So we will probably have rain tonight and getting good, dry and sunny some time tomorrow, new years day.
The red on that line means the front is not coming our way, the cold front is being pushed back by warm air.

A massive area of very dry air is fighting its way westward towards Belize. But at the moment there is some low level moisture wandering around the coast of Belize causing some outbreaks of showers. What is complicating the weather situation is an area of very cold Arctic air that was supposed to plunge southward but has somehow stalled over the Great Lakes region. The movement of weather at the moment continues to be restricted. This same restriction is what caused the severe flooding in the West Indies the middle of last week.
