Statistics Show Belize Experienced 13.6% Crime Decrease in 2013
Belize seems to have experienced a slight decrease on the level of crime for the year 2013. Although it is the small decrease is no cause for celebration, it does provide some sense of relief to know that the Belize experienced an average of 13.6% reduction in major crimes.
The crime statistics have it that from the period of January 2013 to December 2013 a total 2,395 crimes in relation to murder, rape, robbery, burglary, theft and carnal knowledge were recorded; 377 less than in 2012. In the same period of January to December 2013, 173 shooting incidents were recorded 85 less than last year. However, there is an increase in the level of drugs confiscated for the year 2013.
The two most prominent figures in that area are processed cannabises which has a figure of 1,048,538 grams as oppose to the 2012 figure of 374,736 grams, and cannabis plants which has a figure of 145,852 as oppose to the 2012 figure of 41,325 grams.
