We will be heading to AC in early May and are looking for budget accommodations (good value for a good price). Interested in Hotel Rio. Any experiences good or bad?

Yes, bad experience.

Did you guys decide to go?? I hope so!
About a month ago I had the same question and Seashell's response convinced me that any place on the island other than there would be better! We decide to go with Belizean Shores!!!

Seashell, I think it is unfair to slam Del Rio without an explanation as to what was unacceptable. What was the nature of your bad experience?

We just returned from 5 days at Del Rio and were VERY pleased. My wife and I stayed in the Cabana Grande and my two teenage daughters were in the guesthouse.

The rooms were very clean and the caretakers were very helpful, albeit a little reserved on account of their english not being real strong.

If you spend significantly more than we did then you may do better, but considering what we paid (and could afford) we thought it was a very good value.

I did explain it at length on another thread.
Glad you had a good experience.

Try www.hideawaysportslodge.com check out the site and prices and amenities,,bar restaurant, fresh water pool etc... the prices seem reasonable to me, and I plan on booking with them in May,,,that is if I can talk the wife out of a trip to Europe,,or I may just let her go to Europe and Ill head for A/C...
