Just got off the phone with one of my sisters who live in the Cayo District
and she said that reports are there is quite a lot of damage to buildings in
San Pedro, Caye Caulker and Belize City. But the good news is, that the
Belize Defense Force has launched one of their boats with food and supplies
and is heading for the Cayes. Also the Belize Electricity Board along with
Belize Telecommunication Limited are on their way to the Cayes to set up
communication as soon as possible. The winds have died down considerably,
the rain continues, still no reports of casualties. It appears that all
people remain safe. A lot of people were evacuated out of Belize City
yesterday and they remain in shelters in Cayo and Benque. With the rivers
overflowing most of the people from the little small villages around the
riverbanks have been taken to safety. There should be more news later on
today.
