Thinking about visiting Ambergris Caye this Spring but will be driving down from Mexico. Inasmuch as there are no " roads " or cars on the Caye, we will have to leave our car on the mainland.
Does anyone know of a " safe and secure " parking facility in Belize City ..... and how to contact them ... also an idea of what it might cost.
This first visit is a " check it out " thing so what is the best option for budget accommodation. Doubt you could rent a house for a week so probably a budget hotel or hostel would be best.
How many dive shops are on the island and any idea of what they charge for a 2 tank dive or say a 10 tank package.
Any supermarkets available to buy your own food as opposed to eating out all the time.
How are prices quoted on the island ? When you are told a price ( especially for lodging )does that include all taxes ?
In Mexico the tax on rooms etc. can an additional 18% or more to the bill.
For all things .... rooms, hotels, supermarkets, diving, restaurants, rentals .... are Visa credit cards widely accepted ????
If we like it we may come back for longer every year. We live ( ex-pats ) in Mexico for 6 months of the year but lately our winter weather has been awful .... we like the warmth.
All replies are appreciated.

can't tell whether we have to check back fort replies or whether you e-mail us when a reply is posted ??

Above for Car. Some just leave them at Municipal Airstrip.
Pedro's Inn/Hotel
Dozens of Dive Shops. US$75 standard for 2 tank Dive.
We have Stores - We eat too!!! Don't expect a WalMart esque super shop though.
Tax should be included by law in everything or at least quoted plus tax. GST is 12.5% Hotel Tax 9%
AmEx not as widely accepted as other cards.
