TOURISM CRIME REPORT
Dear Members,
As part of BTIA's ongoing pro-active efforts to reduce criminal acts against our visitors, we are re-introducing the national tourism crime reporting system. The objective of this initiative is to develop an accurate recording and tracking system that will enhance our crime prevention efforts and assist the police with the tremendous burden of reducing criminal activity against tourists. As part of this initiative, we have developed a "Tourism Crime Report" form that we are requesting our members to complete whenever a visitor is the unfortunate victim of a criminal act.
This report will list in sufficient detail the particulars of the criminal incident and provide the basic information that the Police Department will require for their investigation. It will also provide us with a permanent record of the criminal event and will prove extremely useful in follow-up investigations and assistance to the victim. The report should be completed in detail as soon after the criminal event as possible while the details are still fresh in memory. Please complete a separate form for each victim and a copy of all reports should also be given to the investigating police officer.
Please assist your association with this extremely important initiative by reporting all criminal acts in a timely manner. We ask that you submit the completed report to the B.T.I.A. National Office no later than 24 hours after the incident.
